Africa has the most arable land in the world yet most of the population are suffering of malnutrition?
Our goal is to use the benefits of crop biotechnology to create food sustenance for 150 million
of Nigerians and the world’s 800 million people who suffer from hunger and poverty. This is
the formidable task but by our Biotech Corn, we saw the Positive solution to poverty.
Africa has the most arable land in the world yet most of the population are suffering of malnutrition!
In Nigeria, the mere presence of land to cultivate has never been a serious problem of agricultural
development. Nigeria has a total land area of about 98.3 million hectares out of which about 71.2 million
hectares are cultivable but only about one third is presently in cultivation. (Daramola, 2004)
In some of the continent of Africa, their problem is not even malnutrition but famine. This is their order of
the day whereas in another continent eating too much is the order of the day.
With an expanding global population, improved diets and rapidly growing energy demand, society will
need to produce plants enhanced for food, feed, fiber energy and aesthetic benefits without large
increases in production acreage.
Positive Keys vision is to harness our knowledge of Biotech Corn will enable accelerated improvement in
corn varieties, and the advance way of farming. Our researches for growing of Biotech Corns are based
on focused, authoritative thinking anchored on the development needs of Africa. We are to work with
our partners within and beyond to reduce producer and consumer risks, enhance corn’s quality and
productivity, and generate wealth from agriculture.
Positive Keys welcome with open arms new ideas that foster agriculture transformations and improve the
ability to deliver farmers from the old method of farming.
